Dr. Abundio P. Palencia, Sr.
Founder and President of the Our Lady of Lourdes College Foundation. Doc Itay, that's how the Lourdenian family know Dr. Abundio P. Palencia, Sr.. To the people close to his heart, he is full of life, vibrant, always smiling and cracked jokes oftentimes. He is described by his friends as tall, handsome, smart, have a good sense of fashion, a disciplinarian and a person of dignity. He is a person with the sounding X-factor.
He isn't hard to get to know. People even say that:
"It does not need a long time to know and to respect a Doc Itay."
He is a person who knows how to look back from where he came from and to give back to other people and one of his ways of helping the Bicolanos is by founding a school, the Our Lady of Lourdes Collge Foundation (OLLCF).
In starting an educational institution, there are plenty of things to do, problems to face, and obligatios to accept. But all these are nothing to Doc Itay for he is doing this for the people, expecially to the youth of Camarines Norte. It is definitely a heroic act for his own rights in builfing this institution.
He believes that,
"Ang taong marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, malayo ang mararating."
This is why, the problems and adversities he encountered in maing the institution what it is today seems so easy. He always had in his mind that this institution will bring excellence to the bicolano youth. An unending commitment to excellence helps him in every endeavour he faces.
